A good story deserves more than a place on a website. It deserves a chance to reach someone who will recognize something of their own life in it.

That is what I am working toward with The Algorithmic Journal.

TAJ is a growing publication built around a simple purpose: explaining how a rapidly changing world affects ordinary human lives. Sometimes that means looking at money, work or technology. Sometimes it means friendship, faith, culture or the small frustrations that make us laugh because we know them so well.

I want TAJ to be a place you visit because you expect to find something worth your time.

Building that kind of publication takes more than publishing. It takes readers willing to introduce it to other readers.

If you enjoy what we are doing, here are a few practical ways you can help.

Share a story that means something to you

You do not need to share everything we publish. Choose an article that made you think, laugh or say, “Someone else needs to read this.”

On Facebook, tap or click the Share button beneath a TAJ post and choose where you would like to share it.

If you are reading on our website, use the Share button directly on the article to choose one of the available sharing options.

You can also copy the article’s web address and paste it into a social post, text or email. Whichever way you share, consider adding a sentence about why you chose the story.

“This describes my last trip to the grocery store” is a more personal introduction than a link alone. So is “I agree with part of this, but I’m still thinking about the rest.”

Your perspective gives someone a reason to stop and look.

Send it to one person

Sharing does not have to be public. Text an article to a friend. Email it to someone who would appreciate the subject.

A quiet “I thought you might enjoy this” can introduce TAJ to someone we would never otherwise reach.

Follow TAJ—and join the conversation

Follow The Algorithmic Journal on the social platforms you use. When a post interests you, leave a reaction, share it or add a comment.

You do not have to agree with us. A thoughtful disagreement, a question or an experience from your own life can make the conversation more interesting.

I would like our social pages to become places where readers participate, rather than places where we simply announce another article.

Introduce us to your community

If a story fits a group you belong to, share it where recommendations are welcome. If you write a blog or newsletter, host a podcast or know someone who does, consider mentioning TAJ or linking to an article.

The useful introduction is a relevant one: a particular story for a particular audience.

Join for free

Free membership gives you another way to keep up with TAJ and receive our updates. You can learn more and join here:

If you already belong, invite someone who might enjoy the publication.

Tell me what is worth reading

Let me know which stories stay with you, which topics you want us to explore and where we could do better.

I want to build a publication that earns your return visit. Your feedback helps me understand what that should look like.

You do not have to do all of these things. If you want to help today, start with one: share a story you enjoyed with someone who might enjoy it too.

Thank you for reading, and for helping TAJ reach its next reader.
